Elvedee Design is a creative label offering handmade, cheerful & cheeky, whimsical & wondrous art and art wares by Melbourne illustrator and maker Veronica.

Veronica started Elvedee Design to bring more joy into both her art and everyday life. After years of creating dark, melancholic pieces, an unexpected moment of inspiration changed everything – thanks to a bunch of flowers and a mischievous cat.

During a tough time in 2006, Veronica turned around to find her cat, Teacup, happily munching on a bouquet her partner had brought home to cheer her up. Annoyance turned to amusement, and she quickly sketched the scene. That simple, lighthearted drawing became a turning point, sparking a shift toward the cheerful, whimsical illustrations she creates today.

Every piece is illustrated, designed, and crafted in her Brunswick studio, using materials sourced within Australia to support local businesses. From sketching playful designs to printing and sewing tea towels on her industrial Singer machine, every step is done with care.

A lifelong love of animals is woven through her designs, with cheeky cats, cute Australian animals, and other expressive creatures popping up everywhere. Her studio assistant and muse, Pinafore, often inspires new illustrations.

Elvedee Design’s collection includes quirky punny cards, A5 notebooks, high-quality archival prints, and tea towels. As a Melbourne illustrator, Veronica draws inspiration from her surroundings, with themes covering Australiana, Melbourne, and local suburbs. Her love of animals shines through in playful depictions of furry friends, especially cats, alongside pop culture references and whimsical scenes.
